10 WR #StudsofTomorrow Who Could Make a Difference Today

Fantasy Dingo

It was a hugely deep draft this year for receivers. Here are some our favorites, ranked in order of their potential upside. A HOWL OF WARNING though: the grass is always greener, and it's always tempting to reach for a rook. Let your fellow competitors be the chumps, and be guided by our "Don't grab before" rating to make sure you get the right guy at the right time.

1. Sammy Watkins, Buffalo Bills

Big and fast with a great pair of hands, Sammy is reportedly striking up a baller relationship with sophomore EJ. Is it worth grabbing both to get that 1-2 points punch in the same way you might have last year with Drew Brees and Jimmy Graham? Absolutely not—it's still EJ Manuel, guy! But this is a worthy early-ish pickup who could slide up to a WR1 ranking as the year progresses.

Don't grab before: Round 5

2014 Ceiling: WR1

2. Brandin Cooks, New Orleans Saints

The ex-Beaver has #studlabel written all over his sub-6-foot frame, with Brees throwing him the ball and Sproles now departed for Chip's Funhouse. I see a lot of screen passes coming his way, and as a colleague once told me, "YOU CAN'T STOP THE SCREEN," especially not when the receiver is GUMBO COOKS (do we think that nickname will catch on? Do you have a better one? Hit us up on the twitter @fantasydingo).

Don't grab before: Round 7/Danny Woodhead

2014 Ceiling: WR1

3. Odell Beckham Jnr., NY Giants

Eli is on the comeback trail. He's been tasked to throw at a 70% rating, and while it would be a miracle to get within 10% of that number, he can't possibly be as bad as last year, right? I like what new offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo can bring to this group, and with dropsy Hakeem Nicks having fled town to join the Colts, there's room for Beckham Jnr. to shine from day one.

Don't grab before: Round 10

2014 Ceiling: WR1/WR2

4. Marqise Lee, Jacksonville Jaguars

"Tebow to Lee on a seam route......" is something you SHOULD be getting ready to hear this season (what are the chances Henne is awful, Bortles isn't ready, and they bring in Tim as a sacrificial character (a role he was born to play) to see out the 3-13 season only to have him RESURRECT the Jags, taking them to an unlikely spot in the playoffs culminating in a sad playoff loss to the Patriots? Hey?? What do you think, hmm?? WHO SAYS NO?!?!) However, regardless of the guy throwing him the ball, Lee is going to find space this season. Think Cecil Shorts of two season ago-style numbers - a dependable WR3.

Don't grab before: Round 9

2014 Ceiling: WR1/WR2

5. Shaq Evans, New York Jets

Shaq is catching up for lost time in Jets camp right now, seeing as he had to miss the June workouts to finish his degree at UCLA (sociology!). But his all-Pac 12 speed means he is lightening quick off the line, and with Jace Amaro and Eric Decker taking the attention of most defenses, I get the feeling Shaq's gonna get loose more often than not.

Don't grab before: Round 8

2014 Ceiling: WR2

6. Jarvis Landry, Miami Dolphins

Another underperforming receiving corps, another promising rook. The LSU workaholic has been busting his butt under the Miami sun, and with the Dolphins' run game close to empty, you can count on Tannehill looking to go through the air a lot of the time. The big question, though: what does his presence do to Dingo and Ewbengals fav Brian Handelbar Hartline??

Don't grab before: Round 13

2014 Ceiling: WR2

7. Josh Huff, Philadelphia Eagles

Loved this guy on NCAA14 for X-Box, and think he'll do just as well in an Eagles team that oft plays like it's in a video game. The Chip Kelly favorite is coming from a winning culture in Oregon, has speed to burn, and stands to benefit from Desean Jackson's absence and what could be some early season caution around Jeremy Maclin's return from injury (question: who do you trust more to have a better return from injury: Maclin or Harvin? Hit us up on the Twitter, @fantasydingo).

Don't grab before: Round 11

2014 Ceiling: WR2

8. Mike Evans, Tampa Bay Bucs

Love his height, got a great pair of hands, was the second receiver taken in the draft...but I worry about his inconsistency and unpredictability in an unpredictable team which is looking to ramp up again after last year. Your fellow draftees are gonna go high on Johnny's Boy. Don't reach for an unknown entity.

Don't grab before: Round 8

2014 Ceiling: WR2

9. Kevin Norwood, Seattle Seahawks

Always hard to trust a Seahawks receiver in the fantasy world - Russell the Hustle is not one for favorites - but I like the look of this guy a lot. The Alabama hero has reportedly looked "sensational" at camp, and could be the guy to take Golden Tate's receptions and more. A late round stash could be interesting, especially if Harvin gets hurt again.

Don't grab before: Round 14

2014 Ceiling: WR2/WR3

10. Kelvin Benjamin, Carolina Panthers

Don't write off the tall timber from Florida State. He's a little banged up at the moment (hand), but given the lack of end zone targets in the Panthers' receiving corps, he should find his fair share of TDs.

Don't grab before: Round 9

2014 Ceiling: WR2/WR3
